TERRIBLE ORDEAL IN CHINA - PL READ ON

my friend's experience...     If you must visit China, doing it for ties of the ancestral motherland, by all means go.  But be warned that you do not take you last breath there, for it will cost you more than an arm or leg. The episode below will explain..............

DO NOT EVER VISIT CHINA DURING A LONG PUBLIC HOLIDAY UNLESS YOU HAVE PLENTY, PLENTY of CASH   or  You are Fit / Healthy

Renminbi (Chinese:人民币) with you!!

Not even if you have 1 million RM in Malaysia bank, VISA, MASTER MX DEBIT CARD etc!!!!

My wife was hospitalized with heart attack in China ( Govt Hospital ) on the 31 Dec 2011 and she passed away on  4th Jan 2012.

During this terrible period I have to pay all the hospital bill (every night) in cash Renminbi otherwise no medicine will be released !!!

They do not accept any international card (MASTER, VISA, DEBIT card etc)

Even the local with Medical Insurance have to pay cash and claim later

All the banks were closed in China from 1  3 Jan 2012. Even though if  I have someone from Malaysia to TT the money to China , I could not withdraw a single cent from the bank..

I have to get my 2 sons to borrow money from all their friends and changed them to Renminbi and flew in the cash to China to settle all the bills.> RM60K  (est US$20,000)

However they were blocked and interrogated by the Chinese Authority at the airport for bringing too much cash into China . But eventually they were released after long explanation. They managed to see and talk to the mother for a few hours before she finally let go and went to the other world.

I could not bring her body back because it will be too costly and too long for transporting her body back to Malaysia , Her Home.

I contacted the Malaysian Consulate in Guangzhou for financial and technical assistance. .

The answer Kami tiada peruntukan untuk ......... , Kami hanya boleh tolong keluarkan surat pengesah untuk bawa pulang ABU atau MAYAT (will cost another RM50K)!  and segala bayaran ditanggung sendiri.

* translation :  the assistance from the consulate is help to bring back the body back to Malaysia, but all expenses will

have to paid by the relatives which will cost RM50K (est US$15,000)

I have no choice but to cremate my wifes body. All the processing fees were in cash!!

We were even blackmail by the funeral parlour!!

No taxi were willing to send us to the crematorium due to the Chinese New Year is around the corner.

Flight tickets, China Southern Air, need to be paid in CASH as well!!!!!

We were so lucky to have the Hospital Emergency Unit Director Dr 张汉洪医师professional and personal help throughout this terrible ordeal time.

Million thanks to Dr 张汉洪医

In ChinaNO CASH NO TALK!!!!!!

Regards.
